Obituary

Vinnie L. Jones, a devoted woman of God, was born on April 25, 1942, in Choctaw, Alabama, to her late parents Naythaniel Everett and Lillian Mae Everett. On July 31, 2023, she peacefully passed away, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever live on.
A loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Vinnie leaves behind a rich tapestry of relationships that bear witness to her boundless love. She is survived by her sister Minnie Lee Everett, whose bond was unbreakable, and her three beloved children: Brenda (Ken) Wilson, Anthony (Sharon) Edwards, and Samuel Jones III. Vinnie’s heart overflowed with joy as she watched her family grow to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and step-children, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Vinnie’s love extended beyond bloodlines, as she opened her heart to her Godchildren: Richard (Brenda) Edgerton, Alice (Dr. Gary) Brown, and Rhonda Carr. Her nurturing spirit and guidance made an everlasting impact on their lives, reflecting the depth of her character and the love she generously shared.
In the embrace of marriage, Vinnie found her life partner in Samuel Jones Sr., whom she married and shared a journey of love and companionship. Vinnie’s role as a devoted wife and widow was a testament to her enduring commitment to her family and her faith.
Her baptism at a young age marked the beginning of a lifelong dedication to her spiritual path. Vinnie’s spiritual journey was the cornerstone of her life. With grace and devotion, she embraced her faith, finding joy in worship and a sense of community within her church.
Her infectious smile was her signature, a beacon of warmth that welcomed all who encountered her into her world of genuine affection. She had a special way of making everyone feel treasured, often addressing them as “Baby”, a term of endearment that became
a testament to the deep connections she forged with friends, family, and acquaintances alike.
A true fashionista in every sense, Vinnie possessed an innate elegance that set her apart. Central to Vinnie’s life was her deep-rooted connection with her church and her love for its traditions, particularly her fondness for church fashion. As she graced the pews, she became a vision of grace and devotion, adorned in hats that were as unique as the spirit that wore them.
As we bid farewell to Vinnie, her memory lives on in the smiles she shared, the love she bestowed, and the elegance she exuded. May she find eternal peace, forever adorned in the timeless elegance of her spirit, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all to embrace life with open hearts and unyielding smiles.
“Her smile, like sunshine, warmed our hearts and brought light to our lives.
In her memory, we find solace and strength.”
