In Loving Memory of Saraswati Mani
August 2, 1939 - July 3, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved
mother, who left us earlier than expected on July 3rd, 2023 due to
complications from Parkinson's disease. Born on August 2, 1939, in Nausori,
Fiji Islands, she was the daughter of Dorsami and Muttamma Chetty. She was
one of 12 siblings, surrounded by a large loving family.
Growing up in Fiji, she was nurtured by her parents and shared her childhood
with her brothers, Madan Goplan, Raja Ram, Govind Sami, Narayan Sami,
Krishna Sami, and Rattan Sami Chetty, as well as her sisters Sumintra
"Sundri" Sami, Jankiamma "Guddi" Singh, Kankamma Nair, Thayaramma
"Chandra" Gounder, and Muni Lachmi "Lilly" Prasad. They created a bond
that lasted a lifetime and provided her with cherished memories.
Throughout her life, she embraced the roles of a loving mother and devoted
grandmother. She leaves behind her sons and daughters-in-law: Logesh and
Sahdana Mani, Gyanesh and Shakuntala Mani, Dinesh and Reshmi Mani, and
Saleshini Devi. Her children were the joy of her life, and she took pride in
nurturing and supporting them every step of the way.
Her legacy of love extended to her grandchildren: Kajal, Kunal, Ashley, Nick,
Manisha, Anusha, and Shahil. They were the light of her life, and she
cherished the moments spent with each of them. Her unconditional love and
guidance will forever be etched in their hearts.
This year brought her the joy of becoming a great grandmother with the
arrival of Jace Jahan Navarro, thanks to her granddaughter Manisha.
Although her time with Jace was brief, the love and bond they shared will
endure through the memories created.
Mom was known for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and her selflessness. She
touched the lives of all who knew her with her warm smile and
compassionate heart. She had a special way of making everyone feel
loved/valued, and her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
In the face of Parkinson's disease, she faced adversity with remarkable
strength and grace. Her resilience and courage were an inspiration to all who
witnessed her unwavering spirit. Though her time with us was cut short, her
impact on our lives will continue to resonate.
We bid farewell to our dear mother with heavy hearts, knowing that she is
now at peace, free from the burdens she carried. Her memory will forever
remain alive in our hearts, guiding us and inspiring us to live our lives with
the same love, compassion, and strength that she exemplified.
Mom has left behind a legacy of love, a testament to a life well-lived. She will
be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she
touched.
A memorial service to celebrate the extraordinary life of Saraswati Mani will
be held at Evins Funeral Home on July 6th, 2023.
As we grieve the loss of our beloved mother, let us find solace in the
beautiful memories we shared and the eternal love she instilled within us.
May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us
as we carry her light forward.
