Roy P. Johnson

Roy P Johnson born 27 September 1940 died 4 February 2023 at the age of 82. Roy was born to L.J. Johnson and Addie Billings in the rural town of Strong, Arkansas where his mother and father were farmers. He was baptized at an early age and united with New Bethany MBC under the leadership of Rev. Charles R. Evins II, He later Joined Second Baptist Church in 2022 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles R. Evins Sr.

Roy was a resident of Tracy, CA, and he retired as a member of the Laborers Union of Northern California, where he worked on construction projects all across the region from Oakland, to Sacramento, and up to Redding. Roy Worked on many roadways and bridges and he would often say that when driving past an old project “I helped build that” and he note that those things would still be there long after he was gone. Now when passing through the Castro Valley, CA interstate 580 / 238 interchange, (one of Roy’s last projects) his loved ones can remember that he helped build that… Roy enjoyed working on old cars, and he was a master at keeping them going, he also liked spending time at home and watching vintage TV shows, Sanford and Son was one of his favorite, Roy also liked to drive around and explore new towns and places, and driving trips up to Reno and Lake Tahoe, Nevada were popular repeat destinations for him.

Roy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of over 46 years, Nela Johnson; Sisters Melina Jones & Gloria of Little Rock Ark. Virginia Miller & Joann Lowery of El Dorado, Ark, Brother, Dennis Johnson of El Dorado, Ark., Sister-in Law Estella Crew of Dallas TX. Son Dewayne Johnson of Ogden, Utah, Stepson's Kevin (Yanci) Sibley of Fremont, CA, and Eric Sibley (Ruth Grunerud) of Tucson, AZ, Stepdaughters Karen (Charles) Evins II of Tracy, CA, and Gail Sibley-Johnson of Oakland, CA; 9 Grand Children; Tamiya (Donte) Bunn of Lathrop, CA, LA, Cedric Johnson Jr. of Hayward, CA, CA, Charles Evins III, Antoine Evins, both of Modesto, CA, Jesseca Sibley of Fremont, CA, Jourdan Johnson of Oakland, CA, Jasmine Sibley of Fremont, CA, Josiah Johnson of Oakland, CA, Jocelyn Sibley of Fremont, CA. 7 Great-Grand Children; Aaliyah Evins, Amiya Evins, JaRoyal Evins all of Modesto CA, Charles Evins IIII of Modesto, CA, Ayva and Ayvarie Bunn of Lathrop, CA and a host of other loving family and friends Roy will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him
