Lyndel Arrington-Monroe Obituary

Lyndel Bonita Arrington-Monroe was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Mr. Ellis Arrington and the late Mrs. Jonelle (Ganns) Arrington. She was the younger child born of this union. Her father was also a Pastor in their Church and she found Christ at an early age. She graduated from Blue Island Community High School and attended Roosevelt University while on the east coast. She married Mr. Chester M. Monroe at the family church -Bethel Tabernacle in August of 1963. They moved to California after her husband completed his military term and found employment. She found employment with the United Airlines as a FAA Maintenance and Repair Manuals Clerk in So. San Francisco and she retired from United Airlines Inc. in 1995. To their union a son was born, Mr. Michael Arrington Monroe in 1976.

Lyndel’s faith was always very important to her and in the early 1990’s she joined Abundant Life Christian Fellowship on O’Brien Drive in Menlo Park, Ca. She worked in various capacities and helped the church grow from that address to Leghorn Street in Mountain View, Ca. When Pastor Sheppard founded the Destiny Christian Fellowship in Fremont, Ca. She followed his leadership there and continued to serve in many ways until her health prevented her in October 2018.  She had been fighting to get back to her first love of worship for nearly two years.

She suffered another major health crisis on June 23, 2020. The staff at Medical Memorial Hospital in Modesto thought that she wouldn’t last the week, but being the fighter, she was; she fought

to stabilize and had recently being placed in a hospice care home. She amazed us all, even though she couldn’t speak when we would sit around her bed, she participated with the clicking of her nails to let us know she was engaged in our conversations.

On July 13, 2020 around 4:50 pm, Jesus stepped into her room, he saw how valiantly she had been fighting and decided it would be better that she come home with him.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Harold Arrington. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Michael A. Monroe, her grandson, Chester Michael Monroe, her former spouse, three uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their extended families as well as life- long friends.
