Kerry Lee Bobo was born in Lake Forest, Lake County, Illinois on January 19th 1960. Kerry was born the third son from the union of his parents, Billie Dove Bankhead and Melvin Lethanial Bobo.
Kerry acknowledged the voice of the Lord and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Early in his life Kerry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for several years. Following his dream for academic excellence Kerry attended Tuskegee University, In Tuskegee AL, there he earned two Bachelors of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and a minor degree in Mathematics. For more than 30 years Kerry has utilized his degrees in his secular career as a Computer Scientist/Computer Engineer, with Gallo Winery in Modesto.
A Christian Philanthropist, Rev. Kerry Lee Bobo worked tirelessly supporting the Christian Ministry and shepherding lost sheep to Christ. Beginning in 1992 Rev. Bobo received his license to preach Gods word and became Associate Minister under the leadership Rev. Dr. Ronald Dunham Sr., Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Modesto and later Second Baptist Church in Merced until 2008. Then on July 28, 1999 Rev. Bobo was officially ordained for Christian ministry by his pastor Rev. Dr. Ronald Dunham Sr.
Between 2002 and 2012 Rev. Bobo held the prestigious title of Moderator of the Victorious Gospel (Baptist) Ministries of Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. As moderator Rev. Bobo provided leadership, direction and financial, administrative and spiritual planning, evangelism, preaching, teaching and training of other pastors, worship, counseling and baptisms of new coverts in rivers and streams. From 2008 to 2014 Rev. Dr. Bobo was Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Merced CA where he faithfully preached the Gospel, tended his flock and participated in the Music Ministry as Pianist and Organist.
Rev. Dr. Bobo continued his education by attending “Bible Based Theology School in Stockton, CA there he was conferred with three additional degrees in Theology, each awarding him Summa Cum Laude.
In his private life, Kerry Bobo enjoyed spending time with his lovely wife Hellen his children and other family and friends. Kerry earned a black belt degree in martial arts, under the leadership of John Smartt founder of Aikido in Stockton, CA. It was Aikido that Kerry claimed “…has brought a sense of peace to my life”, “… a martial art with which I could be in complete harmony”. In addition to Aikido he enjoyed playing sports, weight lifting, deep sea fishing, crabbing, bowling, reading and international travel, but most of all he LOVED spreading the Word of God.
Rev. Dr. Kerry Lee Bobo a soldier for the Lord left this earth to be united with his and Savior in his eternal home in Glory on February 15, 2020, he was preceded in death by his father.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memory, his devoted and loving wife, Hellen, daughters, Zakiyyah Hunkin, Zena West, Angel Bobo, sons, Elijah Bobo, Isaac Bobo, grandchildren, Eden Patton, Azariahs West, mother, Billie Dove Bankhead, three brothers, Melvin Bobo, James Bobo, Larry Bobo and of host of other loving family and friends, Kerry will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
