Ethel Hoffman Obituary

Ethel Mae Hoffman was born in Tulare, California, on June 2, 1953 to Elmer L Hoffman Sr. and Marguerite E Hoffman She was the eight child of eleven children. 

ln 1959 the family moved to San Jose, CA where she lived the majority of her life. As a teenager she went to Fisher and Overfelt High School. Her daughter, Lucetia Ann Hoffman was born February 3 1969.

As an adult she loved music and loved to sing. She became a member of the Prayer Garden COGIC, under the leadership of the late Pastor M. Mathis who, later became Bishop of California Northwest Jurisdiction. She was a member of the choir.

She later joined the Faith Deliverance COGIC under the late Bishop Ray Mack of Oakland, CA.  She was a member of the choir.

She was a member of the Living Waters COGIC under the leadership of Elder James Edwards. She was a member of the choir.

In 1991 She moved to Modesto, California and became a member of the Westside Neighborhood Church under the leadership of Dr. Carlton Wright. She was a member of the choir.

In November 2006 she moved from California to Idabel, OK to be with her daughter, who was expecting her first grandchild, Jamey Delandrick Pierce on May 11, 2007.

Over the years she struggled with her Christianity but her daughter is proud to say that in 2016 she gave her life back to Christ and became a member of St. James CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Delroy Markland of Idabel, Oklahoma until her final passing September 12, 2020.

She worked for a variety of companies from electronics to fast food IBM Hurled-Packer and yes “What A Burger.”

She was preceded in death by; her parents, Elmer and Marguerite Hoffman, three brothers, Elmer Lee Jr., Oice Hoffman, Whelthon Hoffman; one sister, Rita Elizabeth Hoffman.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her daughter  Lucetia Ann Campbell (Karl), grandson Jamey Delandrick Pierce, of Nash, TX; three brothers, Herman Hamilton of Modesto, CA. Harold Hoffman of San Jose, CA. Larry Hoffman of Modesto, CA; three sisters; Marguerite Gaulden of Mountain House, CA; Lynda Hyatt and Juanita Jones of Modesto, CA. 16 nieces and nephews; 45 great nieces and nephews and 18 great great nieces and nephews, A host of cousins and friends and her very best friend, Mary Green of Modesto, CA.
