DEACON ERNIE HENDERSON WAS BORN ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1941 IN DEAR PARK MISSISSIPPI.
ERNIE WAS THE SECOND SON BORN TO HIS PROUD PARENTS, ESCELLA AND VERNIE HENDERSON, SR.
WHO BOTH PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH.
ERNIE ATTENDED ELEMENTARY, JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL WHILE GROWING UP IN                              
MISSISSIPPI. HE GRADUATED FROM MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1959. HE ALSO ATTENDED CALVERY BAPTIST CHURCH IN MIDNIGHT MISSISSIPPI WHERE HE GOT BAPTIZED IN 1953, WITH HIS FAMILY WHILE GROWING UP.  HE RELOCATED TO SAN FRANCISCO WITH HIS MOTHER, BROTHERS AND SISTER IN 1960. HE ENLISTED IN THE ARMY IN 1962, AND SERVED HIS COUNTRY. THAT’S WHEN HE GOT HIS LOVE FOR COOKING. HE WAS A COOK WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMY.  HE RECEIVED AN HONORABLE DISCHARGE IN 1965.
 WHEN ERNIE RETURNED TO SAN FRANCISCO, HE BEGAN WORKING FOR THE MUNICIPLE RAILWAY AS A MUNI DRIVER FOR MANY YEARS FROM 1965 TO 1971. HE THEN BECAME A DRIVER FOR THE GREY HOUND BUS COMPANY, AND RELOCATED TO SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA. HE WORKED FOR GREY HOUND FROM 1971 T0 1990. HE RETIRED FROM THE GREY HOUND BUS COMPANY IN 1990. AFTER HE RETIRED HE MOVED TO MODESTO CALIFORNIA, WHERE HE SETTLED DOWN AND MADE MODESTO HIS HOME.
 ERNIE JOINED SAINT PAUL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN MODESTO, CALIFORNIA IN 2006. HE BECAME A DEACON AND WAS THE BELOVED CHAIRMAN OF THE FINANCIAL BOARD. DEACON ERNIE WAS A DEVOUT CHRISTIAN MEMBER OF ST. PAUL. HE WAS THE AUXILLARY HEAD DEACON. HE WORKED TIRELESSLY FOR ST. PAUL, BECAUSE HE LOVED HIS CHURCH HOME. UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP THE CHURCH SANCTUARY WAS FULLY RENOVATED. HE PRODUCED THE WEEKLY TELEVISED BROADCAST PROGRAMS. THROUGH HIS MANAGEMENT ST. PAUL EXPERIENCED STRONG FINANCIAL GROWTH. HE WAS A DEACON AFTER THE CONGREGATIONS, HEART, WHO SERVED 30 PLUS FAMILIES WITH LOVE AND SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE.ON SEPTEMBER 29, THE DAY AFTER HIS 79 BIRTHDAY, DEACON ERNIE WAS CALLED HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD. HE IS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY BROTHERS HENRY AND HARRY HENDERSON, (TWINS) VERNIE HENDERSON, JR., ADELL HENDERSON, SON, ERNIE HENDERSON JR., AND NEPHEW CARL HENDERSON JR.
DEACON ERNIE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIM IN MEMORIES HIS SAINT PAUL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH FAMILY, A DEAR CLOSE FRIEND SISTER THOMAS, HIS BROTHERS WILLIE HENDERSON, SR. OF MODESTO CALIFORNIA AND CARL HENDERSON, SR. OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., HIS SISTER LENA CATHERINE AND HER HUSBAND HENRY BUTLER. OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. DAUGHTERS JARONDA HENDERSON, MRS. ALISA (NICEY) TRUSSELL, ASA HENDERSON, MICHELLE AND SONS ERNIE HENDERSON III. TOMMY AND FRANK. A HOST OF GRAND CHILDREN, GREAT GRAND CHILDREN, NIECES, NEPHEWS, GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND FRIENDS.
